Our Vision & Mission
Ntethelelo Foundation (NF) is a womyn-led organization committed to uplifting the lives of young womyn and girls. Using powerful interactive techniques, grounded in the Theater of the Oppressed framework, NF’s programs are designed to break the chain of gender inequality and oppression, violence, and poverty.


To develop a theatre intervention in consultation with the young womyn that can aid them to build resilience to make positive choices.
To enable young womyn to view themselves as part of the community and to take decisive action.


To prepare young womyn on how to strengthen their network and support one another and their families.
To explore how theatre can be used to facilitate discussion on at risks behaviors.
Skills Development
The Ntethelelo Foundation in collaboration with the Market Photo Workshop conducted a photography outreach-training programme with young Womyn in an informal settlement of Sitjwetla just outside Alexandra Township. These young Womyn come from a neglected community with puts them in vulnerable situations daily. This training programme is aimed at helping them build resilience through photography and theatre of the oppressed techniques including other art mediums. The photography element is designed to enhance their critical thinking and reading skills, thus afford them these critical skills to best present their lived experiences and hopes through visual narratives.

At the Ntethelelo Foundation, we believe that education is the cornerstone of empowerment and a key to unlocking a brighter future. Our programs are designed to inspire and equip young girls to pursue higher education as a pathway to breaking the cycle of poverty and creating better opportunities for themselves and their families. Through mentorship, life skills training, and access to resources, we help our participants build the confidence and resilience needed to excel academically and navigate the challenges they face. By fostering a culture of learning and ambition, we empower young women to dream big, achieve their goals, and become leaders who uplift their communities. Wellness
The Ntethelelo Foundation serves as a sanctuary where young girls and boys can freely express themselves while receiving unwavering support for their mental and physical well-being. Our organization prioritizes creating a nurturing environment where youth feel valued, heard, and empowered to overcome challenges. We collaborate with community partners to provide essential resources such as toiletries, undergarments, and hygiene supplies, ensuring that basic needs are met with dignity. Additionally, health screenings, wellness programs, and mental health support are integral to our holistic approach to care. By addressing these critical aspects of well-being, we empower young girls and boys to thrive in all areas of their lives, fostering confidence, resilience, and the foundation for a brighter future.
Family Engagement
The Ntethelelo Foundation recognizes the vital role families play in the growth and success of young girls and boys. That’s why we work closely with families to create a supportive and open environment for dialogue. Through guided conversations, we provide a platform where students and their parents can freely express their concerns, challenges, and achievements, fostering mutual understanding and stronger relationships. These conversations are facilitated in a safe and supportive setting, often with the involvement of community partners who offer additional resources and guidance. By bridging the gap between youth and their families, we empower them to navigate life’s challenges together, reinforcing the importance of a unified, supportive community in achieving lasting success.

These techniques are rooted in the Theater of the Oppressed framework, NF’s programs are designed to break the chain of gender inequality and oppression, dismantle toxic masculinity and poverty.
